Microsoft Global IMEs
|
|
Global IMEs (Input Method Editors) are Windows add-on modules
which let users of Windows 95/98 and Windows NT4 input characters in
Japanese (also Chinese and Korean) under any language version of Windows Operating System.
Global IMEs are mainly recommended for users who have occasional
needs to input/output in Japanese (or Chinese/Korean) but do not use a native Windows system for the language in question.
Install MS Global IME using the the modules combined with corresponding Language Packs. The files are executable programs. Run the installer program to
complete the installation. Once Global IME(s) are installed, you should re-start Windows.
A Global IME module
should not be installed if the operating system already has its own IME for that language. That
is, you should not install Japanese Global IME on Japanese Windows, Traditional
Chinese Global IME on Traditional Chinese Windows, etc.
You can download these modules at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/features/ime.asp?
On Windows 2000: Global IMEs are not needed and must not be installed
since Windows 2000 CD ships with its own improved IMEs for Japanese input.
